If you're Aussie and homesick for Aussie coffee. This is the place.
If you're not Aussie and want to know what good, frothy, quality roasted coffee tastes like. This is the place.
Granger & Co. Just past the strip of pavement cafes of Westbourne Grove, Granger & Co sits under a lime-green awning. In the morning it's young mothers with those three wheeled uber prams that look like space pods. In the afternoon it's creatives chatting about their next projects over a slice of cake. In the evening, couples snuggle up over Aussie fare.

I'm not a young mother but I meet one there in the morning for breakfast. It's 10:30am and the place is brimming. I can smell the coffee brewing and for a second I'm back in Sydney.

My coffee arrives, about 20 minutes after being ordered, but the taste forgave the tardinness. If I was back in Sydney for the seconds I walked in, I was back in Sydney for the duration of the breakfast now. You just can't explain the magnificence of a Australian made coffee. Without even checking, I know the barista is Aussie.
The breakfast menu is typical Australian cafe style. You have your choice of eggs, served with sourdough bread and the obligatory granola, muesli and bircher.
The yummy mummy with me goes for the eggs. They look like something that's been whipped in a patisserie. Fluffy eggs that look like cream. We predict they've been cooked over steam in a bowl, they are just that perfect. The tomatoes have a cumin spice glaze and the avocados - not hard and tasteless.

I opt for the bircher museli with apples, dates and almonds. I also ask for a little side of Coyo yoghurt - the new cocnut yoghurt that is taking the health foodies by storm. The bircher, although made well - read no hard oats or off taste, was not the best I'd had. And I was dissappointed that the dates were no soaked together with the bircher. It would have added a more sweeter taste.
As for the Coyo. Pass. ( I think it was off ... but does coconut yoghurt go off ?? )

Breakfast at Granger & Co. is as Aussie as it gets. Mostly Aussies are sitting nursing lattes and simulating Sydney side dining, minus the prompt service and sunny weather.
